What is Wordle?

Wordle is a daily puzzle found on the official website for The New Your Times (a top-rated American newspaper). Here is the link for today’s Wordle game.

In Wordle, players are given six (6) attempts to solve the game’s solution. Here’s the catch: players can only enter 5-letter words as guesses for the Wordle ‘word of the day’. If one of the player’s guessed letters turn ‘yellow’ in color, this signals to the player that said letter is part of the solution. Where one of the guessed letters turn ‘green’ in color, these means that not only said letter is part of the final solution but also that the letter is placed in the correct position within the 5-letter solution. Please note that the word of the day can contain a particular letter more than once. Where all six (6) guessing attempts fail, players would in essence lose the game and have to wait until the next day to play again.

I would definitely describe Wordle as one of my favorite online games. It is literally the only game that I play daily. I hate losing and completing it successfully makes me feel as if I have won the lottery. Am I the only one who experiences this exciting feeling?

I don’t know if you see the pattern here, but my first secret weapon when playing Wordle, is to guess a word that has mostly vowels (A,E,I,O,U), and no letters repeated as my first guess (see examples 1, 2, & 3 above). Vowels may only take up 19 % of the English alphabet but it is a known fact that the majority of English words contain vowels (whether at the beginning, middle or somewhere at the end). My second secret weapon when playing Wordle is to make a guess using a 5-letter word that contains mainly consonants (see examples 4 & 5 above). However, many times I play Wordle without sticking to these rules.
